I am very excited. No UBER-excited!! THIS little dandy is on its way to us:
I was very giddy when Brian put in the order!

Christmasing in Portland, Oregon
For family Christmas trip this year it was time with the Neyenhuis' family! We hoped to escape the frigid temperatures (0 degrees and below!) and snow here in Boulder, but to no avail. Portland was hit with the biggest snowstorm in 40 years. We measured the accumulation on the back deck to be 13 inches. Pretty remarkable for a place that doesn't get a lot of snow! And I must say it made us very grateful that Colorado has plenty of snowplows!!! (Portland has a very very few which made things really difficult to get around.)
But the 2nd day we were there we went to the Children's Museum and had a ball!! See below:
Cam playing in the "dirt"(I think they were really recycled rubber pieces)Loving the slide action
The Water Works room. This kid coulda stayed there ALL DAY. ...Really.
More to come on the trip later. We must be to bed as we were up at 3:45 this morning to catch our plane!!

Copy-cat
Yesterday while Cam and I were eating dinner, I heard a police siren. I said pointing to the general direction of the siren, "Cam! Do you hear that?? It's a police car!" And not 1 minute later:
Cam: "Mommy!"
Me: "What??"
Cam: (pointing) "D'ya hear that?!"
He kept doing this over and over for 15 minutes.

Self-Imposed Tag
I saw this tag on my friend Jenny's blog and wanted to do it: So here goes:
By the way, I am tagging Heidi and Shayla. Have fun!
I was tagged by: myself or Jenny in an indirect way.
I am: a Mom, a cook, a neighbor, a failing housekeeper... it could go on and on.
I think: that it doesn't truly matter if evolution happened or not. If God used evolution, cool. If He didn't, that's okay with me too.
I know: what I need to do to be truly happy.
I want: to be more disciplined.
I have: a Christmas tree that needs another strand of lights, that has the ornaments on the top half of the tree, and some pulled off altogether.
I dislike: witnessing other people's romantic moments. I also don't want to be rude, so I'll leave it at that.
I miss: the Philippines. I miss being there this time of year with my parents. The mango shakes, the LIGHTS! the warm, jungley countryside, and even the city which is rather dirty!
I fear: heights. dying. someone in my family dying.
I feel: sticky from eating oranges
I hear: the hum of the computer
I smell: Cameron's head. Not too bad.
I crave: nachos with the fake cheese. Yeah, so I like the fake stuff sometimes! You wanna fight about it?
I cry: too much. I really would like to develop some emotional toughness.
I search: for keys
I wonder: if I'll ever grow up.
I regret: anytime I misbehave.
I wish: I could read Oh Say Can You Say? by Dr. Seuss without sounding like I cannot speak English. YOU try it! Hmph.
I love: a clean house and a napping child
I care: about my family and friends
I always: feel more ambitious at night
I worry: about social situations. I get myself in a lot of awkward positions and I never know how to clean it up.
I am not: a phone person. (Meaning I don't really like to chat it up on the phone. There are few exceptions.)
I remember: hiding my sister's Young Women's "Come Unto Christ" tape in her own bedroom because she would play it INCESSANTLY.
I believe: in Jesus Christ.
I sing: sometimes. y'know... sometimes people want you to sing hokey Christmas songs, and I'd rather not.
I don't: have four wheel drive
I argue: only with family. ;o)
I write: in my journal, on my blog, and should probably do more of it. I used to have a skill for it.
I win: games when pigs fly. Especially when I play against Brian. Just put up the white flag now. WAIT! EXCEPT FOR FOOSBALL! HAHAHA!
I lose: my keys. Did I mention that I lose my keys a lot before this one? I lose my keys a lot.
I listen: to Cameron's chatter all day long.
I don't understand: why people cook at 3 a.m.!!!
I can usually be found: checking email, checking facebook, and doing other time-wasting activities.
I need: to stop that. (See the above.)
I forget: TOO MUCH! I used to pride myself on remembering everything!
I am happy: when I finish what I start.

Lessons Learned from the Snow
So we have about 6 (maybe more) inches of snow here today. Sorry there are no pictures of it. It's dark now, and our camera doesn't take good night pictures (even though there is a night scene setting!!) Anyway...here are some things I learned from being out in it today:
Lesson #1: Our little Honda is NOT designed to drive in this stuff. I wonder why I'm only learning this now because last year I drove in it. I guess it wasn't as noticeable last year...?
Lesson #2: Dressing a toddler for snow is REALLY hard. I can't find any mittens that can stay on those busy teensy hands. Or ones he WANTS to keep on. And BOOTS! Oh, the ridiculousity! Just try getting them on the kid! Que imposible! (Go two sizes up next time. Not just one.)
Lesson #3: Hiking boots do not equal snow boots. If I had snow boots myself, I'd be really happy. Maybe "Santa" will get me some.

Much Belated Halloween & Other Oct/Nov Pictures
Okay, I can't figure out what's going on with me/my computer/blogger, but it puts my pictures in HTML and I can't figure out where one picture starts and stops, so I will write BEFORE it all. So the first picture, is of Cameron when we finally found a geocache here in Boulder. We've been meaning to do it for awhile! It was actually pretty fun trying to find it! There were a bunch of trinkets, but Cam choose the ratty doll...which Brian has dubbed "mange doll." 2nd picture is of Cameron talking into his bucket. What else do I say? 1 year olds do some weird stuff. 3rd picture Brian and Cameron carving pumpkins night before Halloween. 4th picture is of Cameron and his friends Keziah, Abe, and Justus (the one touching his ear). ;) His other friend Zadia is in the background. They all had a lot of fun playing in those leaves! Last picture is of Cam in his bear costume the Saturday before Halloween. We had a costume parade and a magic show that day for all the kids in Family Housing.

Where I Blog From... :oS
I was tagged by old friend Katie! :)
Not usually neat and tidy. I admit it. It could be worse, eh?
I now tag Heidi, Jenny, and Shayla! Oh, and the RULE is that you can't clean. Just grab your camera and take the picture. It can't be that much worse than our computer desk!

Copying Other People's Ideas for Posts
I am going to copy my old friends Katie and McKenna and do this tag:
What is your husbands name? Brian Neyenhuis. No middle name. Do ya really need one with that last name?!
How long have you been married? about 3 1/2 years
How long did you date? 5 months. Yes, it was quick, alright?!
How old is he? 26. Hm. Already?
Who eats more sweets? Hm. That's a toss up. I eat more chocolate stuff and he eats more candy stuff. So yeah, I don't know.
Who said "I love you first"? Brian. On a piece of paper. Or he said it in Chinese first. Pretty sure it was Chinese first.
Who is taller? Um, Brian, hello!
Who is smarter? Brian. The end. I don't even try. If you know him, you'd understand. Not bragging for him or whatever, that's just how it is. He is a brain.
Who can sing the best? Brian, dang it. He has like perfect pitch.
Who does the laundry? me. grumble. but then, when would he really have time?
Who pays the bills? Um... it's done automatically. It comes out of credit card monthly. Don't have to worry about it!
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Me
Who mows the lawn? Uh, yes, grounds does that for us.
Who cooks dinner? Me. Brian used to more often but I can't wait until 8 or later for it to be done. I'm hungry by like 5:30. And so is Cameron.
Who drives? Brian, usually.
Who kissed who first? Brian kissed me. It was awkward. I didn't like it at first! Ha!
Who's the first to admit they are wrong? Brian. I am still very stubborn on that. His fuse is much shorter than mine, but it's over quick. My fuse is long but the downside is that it takes me a very LONG time to get over things. Working on it.
Who asked who out first? Brian asked me. Hiked Rock Canyon. When we got to the top, we had sub sandwiches. He wore a visor with a homemade "Subway" label on it and "took my order." He was by FAR the most creative person I ever went on dates with!! It was awesome.
Who wears the pants? Hm. No one. Or we both do.

6th Picture in 6th Picture folder
Tagged by friend Heidi: This is at the end of June when my parents came to visit just before Cameron's 1st birthday. My Dad is planting some flowers in our sad little "mulch area." Cameron is so little!! Wow! And balder! :o)...He was very interested in what Grandpa was doing. After my Dad planted the flowers, Cameron would always point at them and say "fow!" and then pull them out if I wasn't quick enough to stop him.

Election Day Results
I hope many of you saw John McCain's concession speech. I thought it was very gracious. His audience...maybe not so much. So our candidate of choice did not win, but I must say that I am very interested to see what Barack Obama does in office! And if he doesn't live up to everyone's expectations, I'm going to rub it in their faces. ...Just kidding. ;o)
On the upside, Prop 8 passed!! I think I was more excited about this than the Presidential Election!

Cottonwood Farm
Above: Cameron & Brian in a ...scarecrow (?) cutout. Below: Cameron celebrating among the pumpkins with his prized possession he never put down while we were there: a dirt clod.
Yug... this why I don't usually put up photos of myself. Cameron & I in front of a neat-o looking ol' tractor.
hahahaaa.... so funny. You like Brian's hair? (*snicker, snicker*) Before going out that day, he asked me if he should wash his head (which makes his hair look better and overall makes him look less...homeless.), and I said, "nah. It's ok." Well, we first went to the California Pizza Kitchen and when we got inside and sat down, I thought, "hmm... maybe he should've." People were eyeing him a lot. Could've been my imagination, I suppose. But I still thought it was amusing. So here's Brian & Cameron with our pumpkins. I believe at this point Cameron was getting pretty quiet and docile. Then later that afternoon he spiked a fever that lasted 3 more days and it was misery, misery, misery over here. It's over now. The Cameron-meister is BACK!

Conference Weekend Adventures
On Saturday before Priesthood session of General Conference, we went to NCAR (National Research for Atmospheric Research) to go geo-caching. But for some unknown reason, Brian's spiffy new GPS deleted the geocache so we couldn't go and find it. Oh well-- they've got a pretty nice setup right next to the Flatirons. It was nice to get out anyway!
Still at NCAR...
Today between sessions we went to a little trail by the Boulder Municipal Airport. This little creek is just off the trail a little bit. I think it's the best picture I've taken all year!
Whenever we say to Cam, "hold my hand" he almost always will oblige, and I just love it! I want his lovely babyhood to last forever.
This picture is for my Mom since I caught Cameron with a crinkly-nose smile.
Brian is introducing Cameron to Mr. Big Grasshopper. We had a lot of fun with Mr. Grasshopper for quite some time! He was very patient with us as we examined him.
Mr. Grasshopper looked much cooler when we zoomed in on this picture, but we couldn't figure out how to save that awesomeness for the post. But still pretty cool lookin! Props for a neat-o picture go to Brian for this one. If you click on the picture, it will give you some of the effect! :)
We taught Cameron how to blow the fluffies off the dandelions. He thought it was a "fow" (that means "flower").When we got home Cameron tried to...cook himself? I don't know, he just likes to sit in things. Any things.

Imitating Expert
The word on the street is "Expert!" (a nod to Sesame Street.) Cam is quite the expert imitator. He was watching me yesterday as I was making dinner and sprayed some cooking spray on a pan. Afterwards he pointed to the pan and went, "sssssssss! ssssss!" (imitating the spraying sound)
Oh MAN I wish I had it on camera!!

Cameron the Friendly
A few days ago, we were walking home and we passed a very large-in-stature man who looked very straight-faced. Cameron looked at him, and said, "Hi" and waved and waved at him. You should've seen that guy's face. He whole expression changed and he said, "Oh! Thank you, baby! Thank you!!" I think it made his day!

Tagged & Overalls
My old roommate, Shayla tagged me! Here goes:
Favorite person outside of family: well, we're all family, right? ;o)
Guilty pleasure: Computer games. It's a bad idea to get me started. Now I don't touch them.
Quirks about me: I'm still just as silly as I was when I was 12. (re: talking nonsense/gibberish, laughing at something five minutes after it stopped being funny.)
Any regrets in life: Ha! I've been thinking a lot about that lately. I wish I could go back and re-do my adolescence. I was immature about my friends and boys. On the other hand, I wouldn't want to do it again--who can help but be somewhat awkward at 15?
Favorite charity/cause: My favorite cause is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It changes everyone who accepts and lives it! It has every answer to every problem in the whole world.
Favorite blog recently: NieNie Dialogues. At first, I thought, "this woman is unreal!" But now I look up to her.
Worst job I ever had: The one right before Cam came. Working at a doctor's office as a Medical Assistant/receptionist. That was some interesting and challenging times. Good folks to work WITH. My boss...not so much.
Favorite Bible Verse: John 6:35
Got any confessions?: Well sure, but you all aren't God.
If you HAD to spend $1000 on yourself, how would you spend it?: I really can't just SAVE it?? Then travel and ... clothes. There. Vain me.
Favorite thing about your house: It's on the bottom floor! No more trucking Cam and a load of stuff up 3 flights of stairs! That's happy.
Least favorite thing about your house: All the oven fan vents are connected in our building. Oftentimes, a very STRONG smell will invade my apartment. It's always garlic or fish. Imagine being pregnant while living here! Woof.
One thing you are good at: Keeping my sense of humor.
One thing you could change about your circumstances?: One thing I CAN change? Well, me. I need to be more assertive, grateful, and mindful.
Who would you like to meet someday?: Neal A. Maxwell. But I might have an accident for nervousness. ("Uh...I have to go home!")
Who is your real life hero?: Sister Hinckley. She was one remarkable woman.
When are you the most relaxed?: while sleeping!
When are you most stressed?: in the afternoon, when Cameron is clinging to my legs while whining/crying as I try to make something for dinner and clean up.
What can you not live without?: WHAT can I not live without? The sun. I must live in a place where it's often sunny. ...The overcast/dark winter is always hard for me. (I'm a broken record then: "Briaann! I HATE winter! I want it to be sunny and warrrm!" Yes. Annoying.)
Why do you blog?: To keep in touch with family/friends, and to keep up writing (at least a little).
Who are you tagging?: I'm sorry. I'm going to break a rule. I'm not tagging anyone else.
On a different note, I put Cameron in overalls this morning. Brian walks into the room, looks at him and says, "Cam! Overalls?? Are you a farmer?" Then after a short pause, Brian looks at both of us and says, "Did you know God is over all?" Wow.
Wakka, wakka, wakka!

Milk Jugs or...
Brian came home for lunch, and just before he left, he and Cam were playing with empty milk jugs. I guess Cam was putting his mouth on it, and Brian said,
"Cam, we don't kiss milk jugs. ...Or fast women."
I of course looked at him like, "Brian!"
He laughed and said, "Gotta take advantage of these teaching moments."
Right. That's some good schoolin', Pops.

Watches, and EXCITING News
Whenever I'm wearing my sports watch, and Cameron notices it, he'll point at it and whine like he wants it. I'll take it off, hand it to him, and right away he puts it on his neck, and smiles at me like, "that's right, right?" We cannot figure out why he's always putting the watch on his neck. Maybe he thinks it's a necklace....? But I don't wear necklaces very often. I'm not sure where he picks up some of this stuff.
In other exciting news, Brian has been called (just this last Sunday) as our ward's Primary Chorister!! I'm very excited for him! Of course, he was pretty surprised. He's a little nervous about it, but also excited too. Exciting/Excited. That's the word of the day, I guess.
And blogger has crazy problems with font size. I can't fix it so well. So sorry 'bout that.

Videos from Vacation
This will be out of order--so go read the post previous to this one after you look at the video. This is from our vacation to Utah. I wanted to post more videos, but it appears that we are having technical difficulties. So...more to come. The first one is at Lehi Pool with Brian's parents. I'm not there because I was passed out with the stomach flu. Yay.

Family Time!
Hey everyone! Fall semester has begun here--but doesn't mean that much to us since Brian is done with classes--but I still feel like I can get back into the swing of things. Since I deleted my other blog, I am hoping that I can blog a little more often on this one...
It was really nice to have a long break and time with family. I feel sort of energized and better able to tackle my responsibilities here in Boulder again. The first week we spent with my family at Flaming Gorge, UT. We all stayed in some cabins at Red Canyon Lodge near Dutch John. We went on a little rafting trip for a couple of hours which was fun and... calming ;) It was a very mild river trip, and so I guess all of us were a little overexcited about any rapids we ran into. Whenever someone would whoop, Cameron would flip out and start crying. So no more screaming. You can say "Yahoo!" but no screaming, shrieking, or shouting. We also played a lot of games (mostly Sequence and a little Settlers of Catan), and rented a pontoon boat and took it out on the Reservoir (or do you call it a lake?). We were sorta planning on swimming while on the boat, but it was a little windy and not as warm as you'd like it to be to plunge yourself into frigid lake water. But my cousin Chloee was brave and got in and you could see right away that it wasn't so comfortable (re: much shouting, fast breathing). But nevertheless, Aunt Nona, and sis Kara followed suit and they all tried very hard to get the rest of us (Brian, sis Janna, niece Eve & Katie, and I) in. After some convincing and telling myself just to not think about the cold so much, I got in and we swam around and climbed on the rocks nearby. You will not be seeing the pictures from that.
A few of us also went for a 1hr. horseback ride (Brian, my Dad, uncle Greg, cous Chloee, sis Janna, and I) which was a lot fun especially since most of us were comfortable enough with the horses that they could get them to trot a little (which in my opinion is a little more exciting than merely sitting on the horse as it dutifully follows the one in front of it).
So that was pretty much it for Flaming Gorge. On the way to Salt Lake all of us stopped at Fort Bridger to check it out. Pretty neat place! Lots of really old houses and cool little stream and aspen groves.
2nd week: As soon as we got back from Flaming Gorge we drove to Lehi for the Neyenhuis/Walker Family Reunion. We visited with the family there and had dinner for a little bit and then we had to take Cam home for bed--which comes quickly when you're on vacation and trying to get some quality time in with you family. Saturday early morning (1am) I got the "stomach flu" and was out of commission for the whole day. I forced myself to go to the Anniversary Breakfast Celebration for my parent's #35 (Congratulations again my lovely Mom and Dad!), but I couldn't tolerate the smell or sight of food so well. We left the breakfast early... I stayed at my parent's while Cam and Brian went down to Lehi to continue Family Reunion activities there at Lehi Pool. I wish I could've been there!! Apparently Cameron had SO much fun with the water. He really is a water baby. We'll have to take advantage of that soon and put him in some swimming lessons sometime! The rest of the week was pretty low-key... We went to Temple Square with Grandpa Rudy and Grandma Jill, Jenny and Oliver (see pictures below). We also played in Grandpa Gary's stream quite often (one of Cam's VERY FAVORITE things to do), went shopping at lovely IKEA, Osh Kosh, played in the pool at Gpa Rudy/Gma Jill's hotel, went to Temple Square with sis Kara & kids, had dinner w/ my family and Brian's family... and I'm not sure if I can remember more, or if you're even enjoying my travel log here. SO! On to the pictures:Brian named this picture: "Harry Potter Cam." He is trying on my Dad's glasses.
Cameron with Gma Jill and Gpa Rudy. Man! I WANTED to be there.
I LOVE this picture.
Cameron is SO happy when he plays in water
Flaming Gorge Family Pictures: Uncle Don & Aunt Kim. Isn't this a great picture of them!?!
My parents!
Nona, Greg, Chloee, and Ernie the snuggly dog! :)
All the Becks!
With Grandma Marsha on the pontoon boat snacking.
Brian w/ Evie (left) and Katie getting ready to get in the water.
Cam likes a good watermelon.
Cameron with cousin Hyrum and their beloved puppies.
Oliver & Cameron at the North Visitor's Center at Temple Square. They played so well together. It was fun watching them.
The three of us in front of the Christus (sp?)The beautiful Salt Lake Temple! Families can be forever! (You can see Katie at the bottom by the Reflection Pool.)

July! With Birthdays, Family, 4th of July Celebrations, and Camping Trips! Whew!
This month we had a lot going on! On the 3rd was Cameron's first birthday! Some of my family (we missed you, Dan!) came from Utah and we all stayed in a condo in Winter Park, CO. We came down to Boulder to show them our home and the fun Pearl Street Mall, and then we went back up for Cam's birthday party. He got some really nice things from his aunts, uncles , grandparents, and great grandparents! Thank you all so very much! It was a great day!
We also stayed up in the mountains for the 4th of July. We went to see a parade in the town of Granby. It was a good one! (But VERY hot, of course.) The day we got back, Brian's friend Christian came to Colorado so they could go backpacking for a couple of days in the Lost Creek Wilderness area.
After all the trips, friends and family visiting, we got back into routine. I've started running (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) and biking (Tuesday, Thursday) with my friend Anna (who's also in our ward and a close neighbor). Hopefully I can make the habit last so that I can get some real results from it! Brian is also running with his friend, Ryan (who's also in our ward). Cameron is learning more and more! He's beginning to stand alone and take a few steps! He recognizes certain words and phrases like "Mom," "Dad," "clock," "cracker," "brush my hair!" and "puppy." We think he might possibly be saying some of those words, but it's still kind of uncertain. These are pictures of Brian & Christian's trip to Lost Creek.
Joseph & Evie on the Alpine Slide ski lift.
Janna and Dad!
I think they stopped to hide out from the HAIL for awhile.
Here's Cam on his beloved Fire truck he got from Gma Marsha and Gpa Gary.
"Gramarsha" (that's how Katie & Evie call her--or at least used to) & Cameron during the 4th of July Parade in Granby.
More parade watching.
Evie, Katie, Mom w/ Cam.
Brian and I often wear headlamps (I used it breastfeeding at night, I use it to check on Cam in the night still, we use it when we need to see something in our deep dark closet...the uses are endless!) So my family thinks it's funny that I wear it all the time. So I took a picture with Cam wearing it. Now he's a true Neyenhuis.
Grandpa Gary & Grandma Marsha w/ Cam at Pearl Street.

Birthday party!
